Awards Presented at the 56th Annual Clinical Meeting of The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
New Orleans, LA -- The following awards were presented today during ACOG's 56th Annual Clinical Meeting, held May 3 through May 7, 2008.
ACOG/Abbott Nutrition Research Award on Nutrition in Pregnancy
This $25,000 award is given to a Junior Fellow or Fellow of ACOG to perform research to advance knowledge on issues related to nutrition in pregnancy. This year's award went to:
Cecilia T. Gambala, MD -- Fellow, Assistant Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Illinois at Chicago, Chicago, IL; "Maintaining Prepregnancy Body Mass Index in Overweight and Obese Women May Prevent Associated Disease Processes in Pregnancy"
ACOG/Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals Research Award in Contraception
This $25,000 award is given to a Junior Fellow or Fellow of ACOG to perform research in the area of contraception, such as new advances in contraception or quality-of-life benefits of contraceptives. This year's award went to:

ACOG Community Service Award
